What Is The Best Way To Learn the Correct Golf Swing Quickly?
In any type of game, you should start with the basics. This is the key in learning how to play the game. A game that seems easy to play is golf, especially if you are just watching it on television. While watching, you have the perception that if they can do it, so can you?

What are some great digital cameras that cost less than $400?
My girlfriend had a Canon S95 but it is little damaged as I accidentally dropped at the airport... Good thing that my Amex is covering the fee (about $400) as I bought it for her and she had it for less than 2 months...

Her primary use for camera is taking pictures of course... and I, too use it occasionally so that I can analyze my golf swing from time to time (frame-by-frame would be great).

I would buy this one again, but we feel like we would like to try different brand camera..

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Comment on The Perfect Golf Swing In Slow Motion by JBaxMax

Self-Taught versus Lessons in the Age of YouTube?
This is a long one, but I need to provide some context to ask this question properly, so I apologize in advance for the length.

I'm 28 years old and when I was a kid I was not very athletic. But one of my cousins and another childhood friend were though. Early in my middle school years, I spent a summer trying to learn how to play golf with the cousin and the friend. At least once a week my parents would drop us off at the only country club in our small town, and the three of us would play a round together. Needless to say I would slow the game down for the other two, and I quickly became discouraged with the game. They tried to help me, but I just didn't get it and I lost interest quickly. To make it even worse, my 12 year old cousin could hit the ball in excess of 250 yards off the tee almost every time. I asked him how it could hit it so far, and his answer was that when he played with the grown ups he just wanted to try to keep up with them. So he more or less would just try to knock the bloody hell out of the ball every time he teed it up. He had this really weird unorthodox swing, where he wouldn't cock his wrists. He never had any real formal training, he just did it. My cousin went on to become a PGA tour pro. His name is J.B. Holmes, and my childhood friend is now his caddy. We remained friends through high school and into college, but I just never really had any interest in the sport other then rooting for John when he was in contention to win an event or in the Ryder Cup.

Then I caught the bug towards the end of last summer (2009). After my old man gave me his old set of clubs, and I took them out to the driving range one day for the hell of it. I was surpised how much I remembered from childhood. Then I played a round with my father, and even though I didn't keep score, I had a great time. I've been hooked ever since. I've watched tons of videos on YouTube, been to the driving range and practice greens several times a week since, and starting this past spring, playing at least once a week on a public course. I've become obsessed with the physics and mechanics of the game, and combining the knowledge and theory with the muscle memory and consistency. Back in March of this year I couldn't even dream of breaking 100... but now I am consistently shooting in the low 80's (I haven't broken 80 yet, my lowest of the year was an 81 a few weeks ago). I'm proud to say I haven't had a lesson yet. All of this has been self taught thought instructional videos and studying various pro swings in slow motion. The thing is though, you look at guys like my cousin and Jim Furyk and even though their swings make them look like 15 handicappers compared to what the "perfect" golf swing is supposed to look like, they're making it work for them, producing great shots, and bringing home trophies.

My question is, with all the information available via the internet, in this modern age... could it possibly be a substitute for lessons with a living breathing golf pro, given that one makes themselves and avid student of the game? It seems to me, since no two pros have the same swing anyhow, isn't it all really just finding the swing that works for you, and knowing the physics behind a great shot, instead of just having someone say "do it like this?" A golf swing shouldn't be monkey see monkey do, in my opinion... shouldn't dedicating yourself to the study of swing theory and finding your own grove be the way to go? Or am I going to have to break down and pay some guy (who may or may not be a hack) $40 a week if I ever want to see the 70's?

Best Driver to Use to reduce fade?
I am an 18 year old golfer with a handicap around 10. This is my first season of competitive golf and I am looking to improve my game. I have an average drive distance of 275+ but I have a fade that ranges anywhere from dead straight to a 30 yard fade. I know I am capable of driving a ball 300 yards when I hit it straight. I have tried every trick in the book to get rid of a fade from dropping my back foot, tightening grip, closing club face, etc. I currently am using an old Taylor Made R580 with the original regular flex. I have been measured and my swing speed is over 100 MPH and I know I need a stiff or tour extra stiff flex in whatever driver I decide to buy. I was looking at the Taylor Made Burner Draw but wanted to see what other drivers would be good for my game. I am trying to lessen my slice while keeping distance. Thanks.
ok maybe i wasnt exactly clear. i play 20 rounds a month and i have drastically improved my swing. i do not "slice" the ball. it is a controllable fade, just one i do not wish to have because i can be inconsistent. and no i am not trying to gain even more distance i was simply saying with my swing i am capable of hitting the ball 300+ (not being cocky or arrogant).

Also i know a regular flex is definitely the wrong flex for me and that is why i am buying a new driver

What are some good practice tools for golf?
My husband has been playing for less than a year. He goes to the course when he can (maybe 4 or so times a month), but he likes just swinging his clubs in the back yard sometimes too. I've seen things at Target by GolfDigest that are used for practice like a chipping net and a ball return for practicing putting. Do you recommend these things or are they a waste of money?

What is the most useful tool along these lines to help him when he's not able to go to the course?

Keep in mind, we're not rich and our back yard isn't huge! :)

Pain and inconsistency in my golf swing?
I play off 11 but can be very inconsistent, my body gets stuck behind the ball and my head stays down for too long creating a strong pain in my left side when i play more than once a week. I can hit my driver well but with my irons i can't strike them consistently especially with longer ones. I was just wondering if anyone had a tip to help get my body through the shot as the pain is keeping my from playing. Thanks :)
